THE EVERYDAY WORK OF COMMUNICATION
The presentation. The team discussion. The client conversation. The unexpected question.
Your staff can be excellent at their jobs and still struggle to explain their thinking. Good ideas can go unheard. Unclear messages can lead to misunderstanding and repeated work. A discussion can involve plenty of talking without enough listening.
These moments matter to your organisation. They affect how your team works together, how decisions are made and how clearly customers, clients and colleagues understand what is being said.
Take the Stage gives your team practical opportunities to work on those moments, developing ways to communicate with greater clarity, confidence and presence.
BUILT AROUND YOUR TEAM
Help your team get to the point, structure their thinking and explain what matters to their audience.
Practise paying attention, building on colleagues’ contributions and responding to what someone has actually said.
Give your staff space to practise sharing their perspective, asking questions and contributing to discussions.
Work on responding to questions, adapting when a conversation changes and continuing when things don’t go to plan.
Find the message, make it relevant and communicate it without becoming dependent on a script.
Explore how voice, body language and delivery influence the way a message comes across.
Training can be shaped for teams, leaders, graduates, apprentices, emerging leaders or employee networks.
We start with the situations you want to improve. Where does communication become difficult? Which members of your team would benefit from training? What do you need them to be able to do?
That context shapes the training, so participants can connect what they practise with the conversations, presentations and interactions they encounter at work.
THE TAKE THE STAGE METHOD
Use play and improvisation to let go of getting everything right. Listen, respond, adapt and practise thinking on your feet.
Explore voice, body language and presence. Practise speaking up and communicating without hiding behind perfect wording.
Understand what you really want to say. Shape your message, find the story and communicate it without becoming dependent on a script.
Put it into practice. Speak. Present. Record. Pitch. Share. Be seen and heard. Keep going when it isn’t perfect.
KNOW YOUR MESSAGE.
NOT YOUR SCRIPT.
PRACTICAL BY DESIGN
Speak. Listen.
Respond. Adapt.
Communication rarely follows a perfect script.
Drama, improvisation, storytelling, voice and performance provide ways to practise listening, responding, adapting and communicating when the next moment isn’t entirely predictable.
Participants speak, try different approaches, notice what happens and try again. The purpose is to develop communication skills they can take back into their working day.
Training is led by Zanya Sesay, whose nearly 20 years across theatre, education and facilitation inform a warm, structured approach to learning by doing.
